Hey! I did a meme for one of my artslam things 8D;;; Also to warm up.
People should do it! 8D [link] There's the template. Also uhhh explanations..... Versions of J+H: I really actually like film versions more than the musical. @_@ The Fredrich March version is really great!! And Jekyll is so hilarious, lol. He's all like, "ohhhh I totally want to get married but HEY look it's a damsel in distress!! Let's see if she needs some.... assistance." And then there's a SONG. I love the musical but it needs more silly. I LOVE the scene in the book where Jekyll first transforms into Hyde--he describes the gradual realization of, "Huh? I seem to be a different person all of a sudden...." And there's this neat sense of Hyde trying to figure out who he is. By comparison, the musical kind of jumps straight into "Alive", and so you don't get that moment of uncertainty. For the who-plays-him-best, I was limiting myself to the musical but uhhhh actually my favorite is probably BBC!Jekyll's portrayal.  *gets hit* Just because it was more FUN. It was an original take on Hyde in particular, I thought..... he really got the "full of life" aspect that tends to diminish when everyone plays Hyde the exact same way every single time. Everyone takes Hyde so seriously..... when, if you think about it, it's an intrinsically over-the-top role.I SO LOVE Jekyll/Lucy right now and it's LAME. I really hate shipping pairings that actually turn out okay. It makes it much more interesting when the guy indirectly kills the girl later and is constantly wracked with guilt over it even in their most pleasant of moments. :3 Plus it makes Hyde go, "EW LOVE WTF IS THIS BUSINESS" Utterson is hilarious. Another character that I thought got really bland in the musical. I always see him as a total dorky scholarly guy who is incapable of processing information like a normal person. If I remade Jekyll and Hyde there would be time travel. Aaaand Confrontation, which I babbled about a lot..... Uhhhh I really like doing things from Hyde's perspective. It's occured to me that at this point, he's scared out of his poor little mind that he actually might die. He's fighting against someone he's assumed all this time would NEVER have the strength to come out and attack him--it's like if the cute little mouse under your bed grabbed you by the neck and started screaming, "TAKE ALL YOUR EVIL DEEDS AND ROT IN HELL!" |

Never seen all those jekylls... only read the book (which obv was LOVELY)...and i won't count Jekyll from the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen because I quite hate the idea of Hyde being some kind of pink Hulk.

Confrontation definately needs to be more epic. Or the lighting changes need to be made with the persona changes, at least (when I watched it, there was a lag in the 'white' to 'red' light. I was disappointed).
