This was wonderful! Very Miyazaki-feeling. Such a nice find for the day <3! The colors and Camera shots were well thought out, your animation was timed so well! Fantastic job! I'll be working on my own short film this year, though, in 3d. This gets me excited all the more! Thank you sharing your work! Hope to see more! 8D
Gorgeous. ksjg;klsgs I love watching art student's films, they have this quality about them that isn't in a lot of feature length movies, I don't know... they're more individual? And I especially like the flavor of the individuality in this one. x3
Omg! I found you posting on 's journal! You made Night Parade!! Hahah~ Small world~
In my college portfolio workshop last semester, we were given the task to find demo reels by other arts that we felt accurated reflected some of our own goals in terms of animation and storytelling. I was looking on youtube at complete random and found yours~
Needless to say, my classmates loved it.
And now, that being said, I shall proceed to deviantART stalk yo ass. <3
I really liked that journal did. She has a very fair opinion, dont you think? I only wish people wouldnt judge religions based on those who misrepresent it, like it said. xD I am so sick and tired of getting the 'wtf, she's crazy' looks everytime someone finds out I'm Christian. x3
But anyway. Yeah, for our final year we had a few smaller courses mixed in there while we spent the majority of time working on our demo reels. I really liked your movie when I found it because the cellshaded style reminded me of those new Zelda games, which I love, and the characters reminded me of Spirited Away and xxxHolic, although, despite all the similiarities, it was still very fresh and enjoyable. My teacher's favourite moment was the time passing over the shot of the owl carcass. He really did like the artwork a lot. ^^
I saw this, and it is so gorgeous! Man, I envy you. You having the opportunity to study animation, which was something I couldn't do due to limited finance. The style of the animation reminded me of Samurai Jack, and the music and the parading scene reminded me of Spirited Away. Absolutely loved it.
I just wondered because at my school they make us write up project documents and come up with project budgets and stuff to be approved by our supervisors. It is a massive pain in the ass and takes a couple months on its own. I wondered if other schools do it!
But I . . . am the animator? There's the composer too, but in general they do it for free XD
That sounds kind of like an unnecessary hassle.... I mean, with student animation, I feel like 9/10ths of the time there won't be any budget, and it seems silly to me to pretend like there is one when there clearly isn't... What are project documents? What school do you go to?
Qantm, in Australia. ;_; I am considering throwing my arms up and quitting because of unnecessary stuff like the documentation and just the fact that...I don't feel like I learn anything there. :/ American schools are more expensive but maybe I should work try for one of those instead. They sound a lot better. :/ Or I could try roughing it on my own, I dunno!
The project documents are things like the art bible (which actually makes sense) and also the budget, initial proposal and justification, workflow diagrams, backup solutions... BS like that. Pretty much pretend we are an animation contractor/company developing a short film for a client.
Well, art bible is always awesome, but I find there's a difference between good preparation and basically playing dress-up and pretending like you're in a studio setting when, in fact, you are not. D: I hope your schooling gets better!
That was so pretty! :000 All the layouts and animation and bugs >u< Really impressive : D Also, congrats on making it into the producer's show. Do you do all your animation straight-up in flash or in pencil then colors in flash?
